This hand crafted German advent calendar folds out to over 27" wide and the village chapel unfolds to create a 3D shape. In this charming & nostalgic scene, the village is full of Christmas festivities around the beautiful chapel in the central square. The trees & rooftops sparkle with snow and the village glows with the Christmas spirit.
The fold out panels, as well as, the 3D chapel add a dimension of depth and detail to the advent calendar. The detailed picture features 24 doors, each with a small illustration behind it. The chapel doors (door no. 24, Christmas Eve) open to show the nativity scene.
This Advent calendar has a "Geschenkt von:" (or "Gifted by:") door in which the sender can hand write their name behind this door.

The tradition of the advent calendar dates back to 1851 in the Protestant parts of Germany. The first advent calendar with small doors was made in the early 1900’s and the tradition continues to this day.
