Product Description
Sleigh Ride Reproduction German Advent Calendar
This German advent calendar, originally printed in 1957, features a two piece free standing 3D design. The front panel depicts Santa's sleigh, loaded with gifts, flying along in the glittering snowy forest over a stone bridge.
The background shows a cozy alpine chalet with the moon peeking over the roof line. Children cheer and wave to Santa, while bunnies investigate the lebkuchen and fruits in the snow.
The detailed picture has 24 unique doors to open, with each hiding a little picture.
Tradition of the Advent Calendar
The tradition of the advent calendar dates back to 1851 in the Protestant parts of Germany. The first advent calendar with little doors was printed in the early 1900's and continues today. The tradition is to open one door each day from December 1 thru December 24. Children love to open a door a day as they count down to Christmas.
