Product Description
Santa's Forest House German Christmas Advent Calendar
This German advent calendar shows a jolly Santa checking his list as elves ready the sleigh for his Christmas Eve ride in front of his woodland house. Forest animals watch the bustle of Christmas activity amidst trees decked with lebkuchen.
A scalloped border frames the scene. The detailed picture has 24 little doors to open, with each hiding a little picture.
Tradition of the Advent Calendar
The tradition of the advent calendar dates back to 1851 in the Protestant parts of Germany. The first advent calendar with little doors was printed in the early 1900's, with the tradition continuing on today. One door is opened each day from December 1 thru December 24 during the count down to Christmas. A great activity with kids and the family.
