This tavern scene shows a card cheat being chased away by a man servant with a broom on the order of a town councilor. In the chase the trouble maker looses a clog but holds the playing cards firmly clenched in his hand. This reproduction beer stein was originally modeled by Wilhelm Kamp around 1900. The scenes were taken from wall paintings in the Wiesbaden town hall (Ratskeller) cellars painted at the end of the previous century by Heinrich Schlitt, a well known and accomplished artist in his time. Reads "Dem Gluecklichen schlaegt keine Stunde." around the top of the stein, which translates as: "Time does not strike for the fortunate.". Pewter relief conical lid
