Passau Beer Stein Including Depictions of Famous Landmarks
This hand-painted, relief decorated German beer stein features three panels illustrating famous landmarks from Passau, a city in southern Bavaria, Germany. Passau is largely know for it's beautiful 17th century architecture and it's nick name as the city of three rivers: where the Danube, Inn and Ilz converge. The front depicts the Dom of St. Stephan, a well-known Baroque cathedral originally build in 1688. The left panel depicts a scene of the old Rathaus (old town hall) over the river. The right shows the Ober u(nd) Niederhaus (Veste Oberhaus and Veste Niederhaus) or upper and lower fortress build in 1219. The fortress sits on the peak know as St. Georgsberg on a promontory between the Danube and Ilz.
The base and rim are bordered by stylized accents. Relief pewter conical lid and rustic finish.
