Product Description
This German advent calendar Christmas card depicts a mother deer and her fawn in front of a Christmas tree in a forest clearing. Pictured with them are rabbits, birds, an owl and squirrel. Winter greenery frames the bottom of the scene.
The detailed picture has 24 little doors to open, with each hiding a little picture behind it.
Tradition of the Advent Calendar
The tradition of the advent calendar dates back to 1851 in the Protestant parts of Germany. The first advent calendar with little doors was printed in the early 1900's and continues today.
One door is opened each day from December 1 thru December 24 according to tradition. Children love to open a door a day as they count down to Christmas.
