Product Description
This German advent calendar Christmas card depicts a group of Nisse working together to move their overloaded sleigh of presents up a steep snow covered incline. A rustic cabin sits at their journey's end and is just appearing in view to the Nisse; a welcoming sight for their hard-work. The snow falls thickly in the pine covered forest and the snowshoe hare monitors their progress.
The detailed picture has 24 little doors to open, with each hiding a little picture behind it.
Tradition of the Advent Calendar
The tradition of the advent calendar dates back to 1851 in the Protestant parts of Germany. The first advent calendar with little doors was printed in the early 1900's and continues today.
One door is opened each day from December 1 thru December 24 according to tradition. Children love to open a door a day as they count down to Christmas.
