Product Description
This German advent calendar Christmas card depicts nisse and their woodland friends, a reindeer & bunny enjoying the beauty of the warmly lit Christmas tree in the winter forest. The stars shine brightly over head with the star on the top of the tree shining brightest. One nisse peeks out from behind the tree, but the bunny has discovered his hiding spot.
The detailed picture has 24 little doors to open, with each hiding a little picture behind it.
Tradition of the Advent Calendar
The tradition of the advent calendar dates back to 1851 in the Protestant parts of Germany. The first advent calendar with little doors was printed in the early 1900's and continues today.
One door is opened each day from December 1 thru December 24 according to tradition. Children love to open a door a day as they count down to Christmas.
