Three travel destinations along the Moselle river in Germany (a peaceful tributary of the Rhein) are depicted in relief decoration on this beer stein. Burg (castle) Cochem is shown on the front with Porta Nigra or Black Gate (located in Trier, the oldest city in Germany) on the left. The medieval Burg (castle) Eltz, which has remained in the Eltz family since the 12th century, is depicted on the right.
The scenes are framed by pillars of grapes and grape leaves with this motif repeating on the upper and lower rim.
