This beautifully detailed traditional style beer stein with rustic finish celebrates May and the festivities of spring. Townsfolk and animals parade through the forest to observe the renewal of life.

The main motif on this stein is a stoneware copy of a mural by Kaspar Kögler (1838-1923), that was painted in the Weisbaden Ratskeller (town hall) in 1890.  Unfortunately this mural can no longer be viewed as it was destroyed in World War II.

"Der Mai ist gekommen, die Bäume schlagen aus." translates as: "May has arrived, the trees are in bloom."

This phrase is borrowed from the 1841 poem "Burschenlust" (Young Man's Pleasure) by Emanuel Geibel and was set to music by Justus Wilhelm Lyra in the year 1843.
