Stoneware. This beer stein has been crafted to highlight the German presence in the air over the past century. The body of the beer stein is a smooth, black glazed, high quality stoneware decorated with a platinum wrap around design. Along the top border are the words, "Die Historie Der Deutschen Luftwaffe," translated as, "The History of the German Air Force." The left side of the platinum design features a variety of German aircrafts from 1914 to 1918 and a timeline that outlines the Fliegertruppe, the German "Air Force" before the Luftwaffe was formed. The right side of the platinum design features pictures of a variety of German aircrafts and a timeline from 1935 until present day outlining the history of the German Luftwaffe. All labels and timeline entries are listed in German. A pewter Luftwaffe badge ornamented by an eagle with outstretched wings appears at the center of the wrap around decoration opposite the handle of the beer stein. Arching below the badge are the various German air service emblems. A detailed pewter figurine a Messerschmitt - ME-109 in flight, complete with a propeller that actually spins, is fixed on top of the ornamental pewter lid.
