Product Description
City of Leipzig Themed Advent Calendar
This German advent calendar with glitter accents depicts the altes Rathaus (old town hall), in Leipzig, Germany at Christmas. The details of the Rathaus are carefully reproduced on paper in fine detail. A large fully lit and decorated Christmas tree towers over the Christmas market stalls.
Windows of this calendar reveal other famous buildings, landmarks & symbols of Leipzig. The detailed picture has 24 little doors to open, with each hiding a small picture.
Tradition of the Advent Calendar
The tradition of the advent calendar dates back to 1851 in the Protestant parts of Germany. The first advent calendar with little doors was printed in the early 1900's and production has continued since. The tradition is to open one door each day from December 1 thru December 24 in anticipation of Christmas. A great activity to enjoy the count down with family.
