Old German Tyrolean Rebellion Beer Stein
This magnificent & historical King-Werk 2020 Limitat 2 Liter antique style beer stein depicts scenes of the Tyrolean Rebellion against the French Forces under Napoleon in Year 1809.
The uprising was led by Andreas Hofer, a sharpshooter and militia captain, until today regarded in Germany and Austria as a folk hero, freedom fighter and Tyrolean patriot. The images are taken from paintings of famous Tyrolean painter Franz von Defregger. A. Hofers letzter Gang (A. Hofers final walk) shows his good-bye from his fellow Tyroleans upon the day of his Execution February 20, 1810 by French troops. Legend says that he refused a blindfold or to kneel, but decided to give the order to fire himself. The painting Das "Letzte Aufgebot" (The Final Stand) features in the center panel shows the remaining Tyrolean fighters heading for their final combat with the Napoleonic troops. "Der Tharerwirt" on the right side is depicting the arrest of Peter Sigmair, another leader of the Tyroleans, who decided to turn himself into the hands of the French troops as they threatened to otherwise shoot his blind father. He was executed on January 14, 1810. A four-tiered conical lid of genuine pewter ornately decorated in detailed raised relief crowns this beautiful limited edition work of art.
The mold for this stein was originally sculpted by master sculptor Wilhelm Kamp around the year 1899 and is now being reproduced by King-Werk GmbH. This beer stein features an impressive facon lid, cream colored background, cobalt blue accents and a certificate of authenticity with history on the back.
