Product Description
Trojan War King Beer Stein
This 2 Liter 2003 limitat beer stein prominently features a bust of Ares, Grecian god of war and untamed physical warfare, with an ornately decorated warrior helmet. Scenes of the most significant tale of Greek mythology, The Trojan War (around 1250 B.C.) as told by Homer in his "Iliad", are portrayed on the collar, as well as, on the helmet. Paris, the prince of Troy kidnapped Helen, wife of Menelaos and brought her to Troy, where his father Priamos was King. Here they were not only safe from the attacks of the unified Greek forces behind the mighty walls of Troy, but were protected by Cupid the god of love as well. These are the scenes featured on the helmet. On the lowest part of the helmet is Odysseus portrayed with a ram. It was his cunning ruse employing the Trojan Horse that ended the war after a 10 year battle. The collar features the Greek forces led by Agamemnon, Achilles and Odysseus clashing with the Trojan forces led by Hektor and Aeneas. The genuine pewter lid is ornately decorated in detailed relief. The pewter thumb lift is formed in the image of Hermes, the messenger of Godfather Zeus.
