Product Description
Lohengrin Jewelry History Beer Stein
This 2 Liter, 14.25" tall 2001 limitat beer stein depicts the romantic medieval tale of Lohengrin, a knight of the Holy Grail. The front shows Lohengrin standing in a shell-shaped boat, drawn by a swan. He has been sent to rescue the princess Elsa of Brabant in Antwerp. This folktale was first presented in lyrical form by Wolfram von Eschenbach in 1200 and was then revived by composer Richard Wagner in 1850. The tale was also an inspiration for the castles erected by King Ludwig II and also chose the swan to be the focus of his coat of arms. The left side shows Elsa looking out of a balcony waiting for rescue. The right shows Lohengrin sitting on bench with Elsa. The base features vignettes of King Ludwig, Neuschwanstein and Richard Wagner.
This stein was originally modeled around 1888 by renowned stein designer Gustav Thinwibel and is now being faithfully reproduced by King-Werk GmbH.
Hand-painted relief decoration with 24K gold accents set against a cobalt blue background. Includes a certificate of authenticity and history in German and English.
