Journey to the Stable German Christmas Advent Calendar
Panorama style German advent calendar folds out to 27" wide. The manger stable is depicted in the middle. It's doors are the last to open on Christmas Eve reading "24". Children, a shepherd and animals, are drawn to the warm glowing light of the stable in the snowy country scene.
The detailed picture has 24 little doors to open. Each door hides a small picture.
Tradition of the Advent Calendar
The tradition of the advent calendar dates back to 1851 in the Protestant parts of Germany. The first advent calendar with little doors was printed in the early 1900's, with the tradition continuing today. A door is opened each day from December 1 thru December 24 in anticipation of Christmas. A great activity to do with children and family.
