Product Description

This beautifully detailed city motif beer stein is a tribute to historical landmarks in Wiesbaden.  The front depicts the Griech.  Kapelle (Griechische Kapelle - Greek Chapel) also know as Saint Elizabeth's Church, a Russian orthodox church built as a tribute to the Duke of Nassu's wife Elizabeth (related to Russian royalty) who died at the early age of nineteen.  Four of the five gilded chapel domes are visible in this view.  The city coat of arms is emblazoned on the bottom with the words reading "Gruss aus Wiesbaden" (Greetings from Wiesbaden) above.

The sides have four vignettes depicting the Nero-tempel (a Greek style building/temple on the Neroberg, a mountain where a panorama of Wiesbaden can be viewed), Königl Theater (also known as the Hessisches Staatstheater - built in 1894), Kochbrunnen (hot springs, showing the old spring house) and Rathhaus (the old town hall).

Beautiful scrolling & lattice work with 24K gold accents frame the scenes set against a dark cobalt blue background.
