Gemuelichkeit Old German Beer Stein
This hand-painted old German beer stein shows a traditional German "Gemuetlichkeit" or "Good Times" scene in relief decoration and reads "Frohsinn." (Happiness) on the front banner. The stein also reads "Ein Prosit der Gemuetlichkeit..." (A cheer to good times/fun/togetherness) which is a traditional German folksong.
About the German Beer Song
The singing of this song is heard right up to the present day, either at the famous Oktoberfest in Munich or at any number of beer and wine festivals throughout the land. Party-goers merrily toast to one another in a convivial atmosphere while singing right along. And with good reason, for there is an old German saying: "Dort wo man singt, da lass dich ruhig nieder, bose Menschen haben keine Lieder": (Where people sing, you're sure to find, no evil soul of any kind).
Wilhelm Kamp (1879-1953), a truly gifted artist of his time, created this stein over 100 years ago while a master sculptor at the Albert Jac. Thewalt Factory. Thewalt has recreated this stein once again - unchanged, in faithful replication of the original - in a limited edition of 2,500 pieces worldwide.
