Product Description
This hand painted rustic finish beer stein honors Gambrinus, the legendary king of beer resting on a keg, lifting his chalice and offering a toast. An impressive solid pewter crown figurine sits atop a relief pewter lid. The front panel is framed by stone columns and the sides feature depictions of hops. A hop & leaf border encircles the top and bottom of the stein with a lion and beer mug border below. Triple beer barrel handle.
A poem saluting Gambrinus appears on the right and left panel in German.
"Gambrinus werde ich genannt
König von Flandern und Brabant
Ich habe aus Gerste Malz gemacht
und zuerst das Bier erdacht.
Drumm tönnen die Brauer
mit Stolz befunden
dass ein König es war,
der das Bier erfunden."
Which translates as:
"My name is Gambrinus
King of Flanders and Brabant
I made malt out of barley
and was the first to conceive beer
So the brewers
can proudly proclaim
that it was a King
who invented Beer!"
