Product Description
This German paper advent calendar with glitter accents depicts the Freiburg Cathedral at Christmas, towering over the large Christmas tree in the main square. The warmly lit Freiburger Weihnachtsmarkt in the altstadt is in full swing below.
A carousel offers rides to the children, while patrons enjoy the festive atmosphere, browsing the Christmas wares and spending time with family.
Some of the windows of this calendar reveal other famous buildings, landmarks & symbols of Freiburg and of the Baden-Württemberg state in which Freiburg resides.
The detailed picture has 24 little doors to open. Each door has a little picture behind it.
Tradition of the Advent Calendar
The tradition of the advent calendar dates back to 1851 in the Protestant parts of Germany. The first advent calendar with little doors was printed in the early 1900's and continues today. The tradition is to open one door each day from December 1 thru December 24. Children love to open a door a day as they count down to Christmas.
