Father of Gymnastics Beer Stein
This traditional style beer stein honors the German father of Gymnastics - Friedrich Ludwig Jahn - a school teacher who founded the first German gymnastic club 1811 in Berlin and developed the modern Pommel horse. His motto was " Frisch-Fromm-Froehlich- Frei" (known as the four F's) or "Fresh - Pious - Merry - Free", which is the motto of the current German Gymnastic Federation. A portrait of Father Jahn is shown between two gymnasts with a medallion above reading "Gut Heil" (Good Health). The sides read "Frisch-Fromm-Froehlich- Frei - Stets des Turners Wahlspruch sei" which translates as "Fresh - Pious - Merry - Free - always may be the gymnast's motto".
