This impressive German advent calendar is extra large at over 19" tall and was originally designed by Karl Eckle and released in 1968. Take a journey through the advent calendar to visit so many of the popular German fairy tales including, Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs, Hansel & Gretel, Rumpelstiltskin, Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, Mother Holle and many more. The charming hand drawn motif pulls you in closer to see every detail and door by door, you are lead through the fairy tale world of the Brothers Grimm during the Advent season.
The detailed picture has 24 little doors to open. Each door has a little picture behind it.
Tradition of the Advent Calendar
The tradition of the advent calendar dates back to 1851 in the Protestant parts of Germany. The first advent calendar with little doors was printed in the early 1900's and has continued since The tradition is to open one door each day from December 1 thru December 24. Children love to open a door a day in anticipation of Christmas.
