Product Description
Fairy Tale German Christmas Advent Calendar
This German advent calendar, originally printed in 1987, shows a gathering of fairy tale characters, angels, elves and woodland animals for a Christmas party including the frog price, snow white & her seven dwarfs and puss in boots. They dance, eat and enjoy the Christmas festivities in their secret tree house covered in snow. The large room glows with the light of an advent wreath while the moon lights on the snowy forest landscape outside.
The detailed picture has 24 little doors to open. Each door hides a little picture.
Tradition of the Advent Calendar
The tradition of the advent calendar dates back to 1851 in the Protestant parts of Germany. The first advent calendar with little doors was printed in the early 1900's, sparking the tradition that continues today. One door is opened each day from December 1 thru December 24 in anticipation of Christmas. Children love to open a door a day during the count down.
