Product Description
This German advent calendar shows a woodland Christmas festival with elves and angels. A sleigh bearing Christmas gifts drawn by a stately reindeer stops deep in the enchanted forest and in the middle of a festive scene. Angels fly around the glowing Christmas tree hanging gingerbread and bell garlands, bringing gifts and toys. Elves inspect the treats and presents while curious bunnies watch and birds partake of the goodies. An owl and crow in the trees watch as the merry scene unfolds. The scene is framed by scrolls and stars.
The detailed picture has 24 little doors to open, with each hiding a small picture.
Tradition of the Advent Calendar
The tradition of the advent calendar dates back to 1851 in the Protestant parts of Germany. The first advent calendar with little doors was printed in the early 1900's and continues today. The tradition is to open one door each day from December 1 thru December 24. Children love to open a door a day as they count down to Christmas.
