Product Description
This free standing 3-D Paper German Advent Christmas Calendar depicts a nostalgic scene of a snow-covered village on Christmas Eve. The village windows glow warmly, wisps of wood smoke curl up the chimneys and the starts shine brightly in the clear still air. A shooting star arcs across the sky. The villagers enjoy Christmas traditions; some return from their Christmas tree shopping pausing to admire the large town tree, children enjoy building a snowman and families can be seen inside the house windows placing the finishing touches on the decorations.
The detailed picture has 24 little doors to open. Each door hides a small picture.
Tradition of the Advent Calendar
The tradition of the advent calendar dates back to 1851 in the Protestant parts of Germany. The first advent calendar with little doors was printed in the early 1900's and continues today. The tradition is to open one door each day from December 1 thru December 24 in anticipation of Christmas. A great activity to opened a door a day with family.
