Extra Tall Christmas Lighthouse Advent Calendar
This impressive German advent calendar is extra tall at 23.5 inches! This calendar depicts a lighthouse decked out for Christmas. A festive garland spirals up the iconic red & white striped tower. Bears, cats, dogs and various other animals celebrate the joyous season. Santa in a sailboat enlists the help of seagulls complete with little Santa hats to distribute gifts to the lighthouse inhabitants.
The lighthouse candle burns brightly guiding ships to their Christmas destinations. A red border frames the delightful scene. The detailed picture has 24 little doors to open, with each hiding a small picture.
Tradition of the Advent Calendar
The tradition of the advent calendar dates back to 1851 in the Protestant parts of Germany. The first advent calendar with little doors was printed in the early 1900's and continues today. The tradition is to open one door each day from December 1 thru December 24.
