Product Description
This German advent calendar depicts a scene of children arriving at the stable with wrapped gifts, toys and glowing advent wreath. Santa guides pointing with excitement in his jolly eyes at what lies behind the glowing doors. Cut out stars hang in the snowy forest canopy above a friendly grouping of woodland animals. Gingerbread and fruit are welcome treats to the children after the long journey.
The detailed picture has 24 little doors to open, with each hiding a small picture.
Tradition of the Advent Calendar
The tradition of the advent calendar dates back to 1851 in the Protestant parts of Germany. The first advent calendar with little doors was printed in the early 1900's and continues today. The tradition is to open one door each day from December 1 thru December 24. Children love to open a door a day as they count down to Christmas.
