City of Bremen Themed Advent Calendar
This German advent calendar with glitter accents depicts the Bremen Market Square at Christmas, reputed to be the most beautiful in Germany, with a large ice sculpture of the Bremen Town Musicians. The Bremen Town Hall, the most important Gothic building in Europe, as well as, the Bremer Cathedral are carefully illustrated in fine detail.
The festive Christmas market glows under the night sky with townsfolk enjoying winter time activities. Windows of this calendar reveal other famous buildings, landmarks & symbols of Bremen. The detailed picture has 24 little doors to open, with each hiding a small picture.
Tradition of the Advent Calendar
The tradition of the advent calendar dates back to 1851 in the Protestant parts of Germany. The first advent calendar with little doors was printed in the early 1900's and continues today. The tradition is to open one door each day from December 1 thru December 24. Children love to open a door a day as they count down to Christmas.
