Bethlehem Christmas German Advent Calendar
This 27" wide German advent calendar Christmas card shows moments in Jesus' life using a pictorial panorama format. On the far right an angel appears to Mary telling her she is with child. Near the top Jesus speaks with his disciples who are fishing. The 24th door is the door to the manger with wise men waiting outside.
The detailed picture has 24 little doors to open, with each hiding a small picture.
Tradition of the Advent Calendar
The tradition of the advent calendar dates back to 1851 in the Protestant parts of Germany. The first advent calendar with little doors was printed in the early 1900's, with the tradition continuing today. A door is opened each day from December 1 thru December 24 as tradition. A great activity to do with family in the countdown to Christmas.
