This limited edition cobalt blue and gray glaze beer stein was made to celebrate the 425th anniversary of the Hofbräuhaus (HB) brewery in Munich, Germany.  The front features a large pewter medallion with the HB crown logo and text Hofbräuhaus München Seit (since) 1589.  A beer maiden with HB branded mugs frothing over with beer rests on a laurel.  Two plaques honor Wilhelm IV Herzog von Bayern (4th Duke of Bavaria), founder of the German purity law (Begruender des bayerischen Reinheitsgebotes) and Wilhelm V Herzog von Bayern (5th Duke of Bavaria), founder of the Hofbräuhaus in Munich (Gruender des Münchner Hofbräuhauses).  The left side shows a scene of the Hofbrauhaus beer hall and the right depicts the HB building in Munich both framed by hops and wheat.
