Antique Style German Castle Courtyard Advent Calendar
Handcrafted in Stuttgart, Germany by the world famous Richard Sellmer Verlag company, this antique style German advent calendar features the courtyard of a castle at Christmas. The wisemen, shepherds and villagers gather in the castle courtyard while members of court peer out the many windows to see the star of Bethlehem.
Sections fold out to create a three dimensional free standing paper advent Christmas calendar. The detailed picture has 24 doors, each with a small illustration behind it. Children delight as they open a door each day and countdown to Christmas.
Traditional Richard Sellmer Verlag Advent Calendar
The tradition of the advent calendar dates back to 1851 in the Protestant parts of Germany. The first advent calendar with small doors was made in the early 1900’s and the tradition continues to this day. The Richard Sellmer Verlag company was founded in 1945, and gained popularity in America as early as 1950. Still a family run German business, the Richard Sellmer Verlag company continues the German tradition of handcrafted advent calendars.
